An idea of how seafloor spreading works
Seafloor spreading the process where the ocean is extended from two tectonic plates coming apart. When the plates move apart, the rocks crack and form a crack between the two tectonics. The gap is then filled with magma and is later cooled by sea water. Seafloor spreading occurs along mid-ocean ridges and large mountain ranges rising from the sea floor. Harry Hess was a geologist who proved Alfred Wegener's theory using seafloor spreading as his evidence.
