Alfred Wegener
Alfred Wegener was the one who created and determined the Continental Drift Theory for how the world split. He was born in Berlin, Germany on November 1, 1880 and was the youngest of a family of five. Throughout his life, he was German polar researcher, geophysicist, and meteorologist for his careers. Wegener first thought about his theory when he noticed that the giant pieces of the Earth sort of fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. To this day, his theory is still being used and carefully studied around the world. On May 12, 1931, Wegener's body was found halfway between Eismitte and West Camp. Unfortunately, he was found dead.
The video above explains the Continental Drift Theory, Wegener's demise, and how Wegener's theory was proven.
